You couldn’t sleep tonight…

Well, not just tonight, you had sleeping problems sometimes. When you worried about something greatly, you tended to think more and more. Your brain didn’t seem to stop thinking. It still works although you had closed your eyes, trying to sleep.

Your thoughts would wander from one thing to another and that what made it continuous. You could stop the thinking process and drifted to sleep, but it was rare for you to do so.

Today, it happened again and today you couldn’t stop your thinking. Last time you looked at the clock, it was 23:00. It was already that late! You knew you had to sleep but you couldn’t. It all began with a worry about how you would live after your marriage. You were just married and you actually had a little clue on living as new weds. Firstly, you thought about your new routines with your husband. Then it continued to something even further. You didn’t want your family broken later or sooner. You thought about it too hard you couldn’t sleep again.

You rolled right and left whenever you felt uncomfortable, but it was useless. Your brain didn’t want to stop thinking. Many ‘what if’s came to your mind. Now you rolled to your left and you opened your eyes. There, beside you, was your beloved husband for your life. Though you didn’t turn on the table lamp, you could still see his features. His soft blonde pink hair, his big brows and above all, his beautiful blue eyes. Sure he had unusual features but he was sweet and kind. You giggled a bit when you saw what he was wearing, a neon blue pajamas. He had strange interest in color but you called it unique.

You stared at him. His face was really peaceful and cute when he was asleep. He was like a child, even though he was older than you. Seeing his face made you relax sometimes. You brought your hand to his cheek and caress it. You could feel it, he had those freckles he always hid with make up in front of people. You had told him to stop it but he was not that confident. So you told him that at least he didn’t do that when you both alone.

You caressed his cheek carefully, not wanting to wake him up. You hoped you had that peaceful and you could sleep now.

You let out a small sigh and was about to remove your hand from his cheek when a hand held yours. It was so cold you were startled.

“… What happens, love?” you heard his sleepy voice.

You could see him slowly opening his eyes. Oh no, what time was it again? You whipped your head to see the clock, 00:13. You mentally facepalmed. You had tried to go to sleep for more than an hour.  You had to help your husband every morning, preparing for his bakery. And now, even your husband was awoken.

“Poppet, do you have a nightmare you can’t sleep?” he asked.

His question made you return to your current situation. You saw him reaching out to the table lamp and turned it on, making a dim view for the room. Then he turned to you again, still lying in bed. You locked eyes with him and remembered what he asked you. You shook your head.

“No, Oliver… I can’t sleep…” you said softly.

His eyes showed shock, “Why can’t you sleep poppet? Another thinking?”

He knew you had sleeping problems and ever since your marriage, you had it more than three times already. You nodded slightly, hoping that he didn’t see that.

He smiled a little and moved closer to you. He hugged you and you leaned your head to his chest as you brought your hands around his body.

“Now, now, poppet… what are you thinking today?” he asked as he patted your hair.

“I… I’m thinking… about our lives, Oliver…”

“What about it?”

“I’m scared… I scared that our family doesn’t goes with what we hope. I don’t want that…” you explained.

“Oh, (name)… Love, everything will be alright. We just have to do our best… okay?”

“I know, but I can’t let it slide… my mind’s full of it.”

Oliver sighed and moved your bangs from your forehead and kissed it. You lifted your head, looking at him. He wore a very sweet smile.

“It’s not only your problem, (name)… I, too, am scared. But if we support each other, we can make our dreams come true. So just relax and share it with me… I’m always here for you.”

His voice was so soothing… and his words eased your mind. You smiled and said, “Thank you, Oliver. I’m glad I’m married to you…”

“Same here, poppet. I’m glad I have you as my wife… now let’s sleep. We have lots to do in the morning.”

“Yes…”

You relaxed and soon you slept in your beloved husband hug.

This was pretty adorable, but can I just ask something? If he was asleep, how could reader-Chan see his blue eyes? O.o
